The Bathtub and the Cherries
I am continuing my saga on my adventures with the bathtub.
I discovered that my baby LOVES cherries! While it is wonderful, cherries are one of the more labor intensive fruits to feed a baby.
I love this time of the year. Patrick indulges this side of me by stopping at every cherry stand For the few precious weeks in June when it's available.
I was giving the boys a bath and decided this was a good time for me to snack. When Possum saw me snacking. He became very excited and tried to get out of the tub!
To keep him in the tub, I started leaving cherries on the side so he could eat at his leisure while he frolicked in his bath. TALK ABOUT A DIVA!
I justify this behavior by convincing myself this was a way to get him to eat cherries and keep cherry stains at a minimum.
Yup, stand back all you Mamas out there. I think I have Mother of the Year all wrapped up!

Bathtub 1, Possum 0
Possum is a stubborn one. He also appears to be a strong one. His latest thing is lifting his body up doing an arm press against the edge of the bathtub. This is a new one for us as Scrumpy never did this, or rather if he tried we told him no and he never did it again.
I told Possum no and then proceeded to use the bathroom. The next thing I heard was a thump and crying. As I rushed out, I saw Possum planted in the tub. You see, he was not upset he got hurt, he was upset he got in the tub and made so much noise he got caught!
Being mother of the year, I took the time to find my phone and snap a few pictures before extracting him from the tub.

He threw his toys in first to prep the tub.

He is so mad he can't even look at me.

Gramma will hate this post
Gramma will probably lecture me on posting this photo, but I think it just captures his essence at this particular time in his life. His preference for comfort. These are the photos I will use to taunt him when he gets older.
And that's when Patrick will retort " who was the sick puppy that captured this embarrassing moment in the first place?!"
And I will say,"MAMA!"

He Got Game
He may be little, but he can play. Okay, he can't really play, but don't tell him that. He thinks he is one of the big boys.
Here he is playing a little three on three with his cousins. Whether he knows it or not, he should be very grateful to cousin Jonathan and cousin Alex for being patient with him and giving him the chance to pass the ball now and then!

Fruit lollipops
For Valentine's day, Becca got an edible arrangement. She was kind enough to share. This one will eat a fruit basket if you let him! Let's hope he doesn't lose his love for the five a day like big brother. I will say though, he certainly makes the fruit looks soooo appetizing. He gets that from my side of the family :)

Outlook looks good!
Scrumpy got a haircut at House of Becca's so she convinced me to have Ethan shape his 'do. I was a little apprehensive about it as I've mentioned in previous blogs, but how could I not trust Becca's capable hands and loving ways?!
She was kind enough to document the event for me and even made sure to reserve a keepsake. I have to admit that while it isn't necessarily growing back at a rapid rate, it does look much better. If only he didn't look so old .....

New BFF
There is a new kid in town and he is Possum's new best friend. Roman is this sweet little boy with a great smile. The best part is, Possum is very territorial with his Becca. Apparently Roman is cool enough that Possum is willing to share her with him. They play very well together. Here is to a great friendship!

Afraid it won't grow back
Patrick keeps telling me Possum needs a haircut. He says his hair is out of control. Unlike his brother, Possum was not born with a full head of hair. There is a Filipino custom not to cut hair till the first birthday. Well we are well past that and I still don't think there is anything to cut. I have posted a photo of the back of baby's head to illustrate the errant strands Patrick believes are growing out of control. One man's out of control is another woman's " progress indicators". Here's to hoping we DON'T get to the second birthday without baby's first haircut!

Cleanliness is next to....
Such different boys! Ethan LOVE LOVES LOVES to brush his teeth! At home, he will often go 4 or 5 times to the chair in the bathroom, climb up it and request his toothbrush and "toothsoap". For Christmas, Santa even brought him a set of 5 new toothbrushes! Boy was he excited! Now the thing is, I'm not sure he really enjoys brushing all 12 of his teeth or if he just likes sucking the toothpaste off the brush. In any case, it's nice to have one of them already pre-disposed to good oral hygiene! And maybe, just maybe it's rubbing off on Scrumpy.

My Left Foot
I have been wanting to post about this phenomena for weeks now, but was really afraid Nena Monks would be upset.
Possum has this one sock/shoe issue. From as long as I can remember...roughly 16 months or so, he has always been more comfortable with only one sock on. Even when he was too small to move or wiggle, you would look down and low and behold, one of his socks would be missing! Now that he is older, he purposely removes his own sock.
Evidence of the one sock man throughout the months:
Well coupled with one "sock-ness", Ethan has also developed a fondness for throwing things away. To date, he has thrown my phone in the garbage, put a can of pumpkin in the washing machine, and placed several full sippy cups of milk in places they shouldn't be.
With this track record of behavior, we were under the assumption that when one of his black shoes went missing that he had once again, thrown it away without us knowing. For days, we combed the house looking for the black shoe wondering where it was missplaced. One evening, we watched as Possum picked up a toy and walked over to the garbage and threw it away. Alarms rang in our head. More so, because Nena Monks had spent hard earned money on these shoes and now they were gone.

So for weeks, the lone survivor sat on the ledge missing its partner. I didn't have the heart to throw it away as it was a gift of love from Nena Monks. Well thank goodness for Gilligan! On his way to the doggie spa, he kicked up his heels in the Jeep and unearthed the missing shoe, wedged under his carseat! The pair was reunited and have gone back into Possum's shoe rotation. All is saved Nena Monks, Gilligan saved the day. Next step, finding a trash can with a lock.
